A marathon with 23 red wine stops…..
Welcome to Marathon Du Medoc, yes a marathon round Bordeaux France with wine stops at 23 different chateaux’s. Now that was a marathon I liked the sound of, oh and you also had to do it in fancy dress!
My friend proposed the idea to me and to make it sound even more appealing, he said the theme this year is “Place your bets!”. How could I say no.
This was in September just gone, and it was certainly fun. No one was really interested in their marathon time, Good job as the only training my friend did was pack in fags for four weeks.
The atmosphere was like a festival, with live bands at each wine stop. We got to taste 23 different red wines and then on the final mile you stop for oysters to wash down with all the wine.
I won’t be doing another marathon as I was walking like the Tin Man for the next few days, but if you are thinking about one then 23 wine stops, with oysters and in fancy dress, is definitely the way to do it.
