Have you got a poker face? There is no bluffing…
The popularity of poker as a game has grown enormously in recent years. Over the last few years hosting poker nights in pubs and clubs has become an increasing feature in many pubs and clubs’ entertainment programs, as they bring new custom and encourage repeat custom.
Poker can be played in your venue as long as you follow the conditions relating to the limits of the prizes or levels of stakes that can be played.
The amount each player can win depends on the number of games they have played in any given tournament, but you should always keep to the daily limit of combined stakes of not more than £100 per day, made up of a maximum stake per player of £5. Therefore, 20 people can stake £5 maximum, or the stake can be reduced to permit more players.
No deductions may be made from the prize pot and all money staked must be returned to the players. Additional prizes may be added to the pot to increase the total prize fund to a maximum of £100.
This keeps the poker playing at the level of entertainment and not that of high-stakes gambling, which is played in licensed casinos.
Poker Leagues have added to the increasing popularity. Players can be part of a league but maximum prizes that can be won in pubs still applies.

You can run the poker night yourself or there are different companies you can affiliate with. Some offer regional and national competitions for your winners, which make things even more exciting for your customers and encourages repeat visits. Here are a few companies we have found online, Redtooth Poker, The Nuts Poker League, Fair Play Poker.
What are you waiting for, give a poker night a go.
