VAT’s the Problem — and you can help fix it
Chef and publican Tom Kerridge is spearheading the #VATsTheProblem campaign, calling on the government to reduce VAT for hospitality from 20% down to a fairer 10%.
In France, Spain and Italy the hospitality VAT rate is 10%. In Germany it is 7%. In the UK it is 20% — one of the highest in Europe. That extra tax burden falls directly on pubs, clubs, restaurants and hotels — the community venues that bring people together and keep our high streets alive.
Over 152,000 people have already signed the petition — and the more signatures it gets, the harder it is for the government to ignore.

At Comrie we deal with lots of pubs, bars and social clubs around the midlands. Including our second city Birmingham and one of the big problems for these venues is the crippling VAT rate that is imposed on our hospitality businesses. please sign this petition to help our local pubs and clubs be around in the future, we are already at a loss of over 30,000 venues in the last 20 years!
